Weekend Wednesday v.6

Version 6 right?  I know i skipped a few recaps, but back to 6 is a little rediculous...sorry guys.  This weekend was pretty low key because Hubs was working, so it was just Hannah and me.  When I went to pick up Hans from my mom's house, Hans and Tyler were in the backyard playing soccer.  It was so incredibly cute!  Hans is totally going to be a professional soccer player!

Saturday was Tyler's birthday.  I can't believe he is 3 already!  You know what that means right?  Yep, My Hans will be 3 in 7 short weeks!  Agh!  Crazy!  Ty's birthday party was at Chuck E. Cheese...Hannah loves that place but she does NOT love Chuck E himself...as stated numerous times before, she is NOT  a fan of any enourmous critter in costume...and she doesn't care what it's purpose is.  As soon as Chuck E came closer to her, she turned her little face into me, started crying, sweating and shaking...it was incredibly sad to see.  We promptly left the party area and she ate her cake at a table behind the part area and kept one eye on Chuck E. at all times...Oh Hannah...After the party, we went home to take a nap (yes, I did end up taking a brief nap on the couch...jealous?)

Sunday, we went to Church and then headed to the grocery store.  Hans is such a good shopping buddy!  She also likes to organize the displays for the store...if she sees apples mixes in with the oranges, she cannot proceed to the next display until all of the apples are back in their home...is that Baby OCD or is it just me?  Then we hung out for the rest of the day doing pretty muc whatever Hans wanted.

I ended up having to take River (one of our dogs) to the vet Saturday.  She has another ear infection...that dog is a mess.  She has bad hips, allergies and an ear infection...she takes more meds than I do!  Hopefully she is feeling better soon!

Like I said, it was a pretty low key weekend.  Next weekend Aunt Susie might be here so that will be fun...it is also Memorial Day weekend-do you have any exciting plans?  We might go pick some strawberries :)  I am also having lunch with Madeleine and her mom to talk wedding stuff!  I can't believe her wedding is just 3 months away!

Reality Dish

I am a complete reality show junkie...I will pretty much watch any reality show once...(maybe twice to make sure I give it a fair chance.)  I decided I needed to blog about the ones I am excited about right now.

Last night (Monday) I was watching...wait for it...Dancing With The Stars (or Dancing with some people who happen to be well known in the media...or just known in the media...not all of them are stars-I digress) (I will also pause for your teeth sucking and judgement here...HEY! It is a Monday-what else is there to watch on a Monday?) and I am not going to lie to you...I might have developed a crush on Hines Ward! Seriously! I never thought I would see the day where I would profess my love for a Steeler, but that Hines...I love him...he is so sweet and cute-and a really good dancer-who knew right?! Anyway...I would really like for him to win the Mirror Ball (DWTS trophy for those of you who have been able to refrain from being sucked in-unlike myself) but he has some stiff competition with Chelsea...not so much Kirstie...not that Kirstie is a bad dancer-she just isn't as good as Hines and Chelsea...oh well...I just wanted to get that out before I see who actually won the winner is.

Is anyone watching the Bachelorette? I wasn't a huge fan of her when she was on the Bachelor, but who knows, maybe she will grow on me...

Years ago, I would have skipped DWTS for American Idol...but I am just not into Idol anymore...though the winner of that will be announced this week too (tonight?  I am not sure)...I couldn't even begin to tell you who is in the running for that...

Tonight is also the Biggest Loser Finale!  TBL final 4 were chosen last week...Do any of you watch this?  I am a HUGE fan of Hannah and Olivia...and out of Jay and Irene, I would prefer to see Irene advance to the finale...I would like a final 3 of all ladies!  I don't think there has been a finale of only women in the show's history.  It isn't that I don't like Jay, I just like Irene more.  So clearly, I will be flipping back and forth between DWTS finale and TBL...why do they have to be on at the same time?

Not a reality show, but isn't the season finale of Glee coming on tonight too?  ugh...why don't I have DVR?

What are you watching tonight?

There Are Supposed To Be 2 Eyebrows

So I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine was full of Hannah saying "Hey!  What's the big idea?"  Seriously, she said it all weekend, and I love it more every time she does.  Let's kick this week off with a little bit of Meet Me on Monday!

1. What is your favorite bagel flavor?
I hate when I have to pick favorites...not that I don't want to make another bagel flavor feel less superior than another, but because when I tell you I have a favorite, I feel like I get judged when I want to change it up-or for even picking that flavor!  I most frequently order a Wheat (or whole grain depending on where I am) bagel...but is it because it is my favorite?  No, it's because it is "healthier" for you (I mean, as healthy as a bagel can get I guess).  I do love an Everything bagel...but I feel like that isn't really picking a favorite, it is more like choosing all of them at the same time, making them equally liked on my part...I do enjoy eating them with cream cheese though.  I know some people like to put butter on theirs, which is fine, and I will do it too, if I am out of the cream cheese ;)  And for the record, I like the plain cream cheese-not any of that fancy flavored stuff...to me, the favored cream cheeses don't really taste like the intended flavor-like the strawberry is strawberryish...you know, about 80% of the way there...

2. If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
Well I would probably find a way to spend it on Hannah...I am sure she needs something...I am not sure what though because that kid has everything!  But if I did choose to spend it on me, I would totally get my hair colored and trimmed...I think I am going to grow it out (I say that today, and watch, come next Monday I will have shorter hair), but those blasted greys are driving me insane, and I swear they keep multiplying in my sleep!  I would also love a pedicure...and need to get my eyebrow situation taken care of...you know there are supposed to be 2 eyebrows, not 1, I learned that from Vic on Ms. Congeniality...

3. What is the last thing that you felt guilt about doing?
Ugh...totally eating those Creamsicle Oreos yesterday...was I hungry-yes, but did I need to eat OREOs?  Most certainly not, but were they good?  THEY WERE AMAZING!  Should I have eaten as many as I did...absolutely not, hence the guilt...sigh...battle of the bulge 2011...I am losing...
4. Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
Hand dipped people.  There are far more choices when you pick hand dipped!  I also prefer the texture of the hand dipped ice cream as well...I really haven't seen mint chocolate chip in the soft serve...or the birthday cake flavor either...(I know, my ice cream choices are similar to a 5 year old...don't care though...)
5. Are you allergic to anything?
Resveratrol...it is found in red grapes..and subsequently, red wine, but the traces are much lower in the wine than in the grapes themselves, which I recently discovered.  I can try some red wines, but I really haven't found many that I like, so I don't feel like i missing out on much, I am a much bigger fan of the white wines...they tend to be sweeter...For all of you red wine drinkers out there, can you recommend any that are good for people like me who really dont' like the "spicy" reds?  baby steps here people...

Come on...you know you want to play too!

This is NOT a drill...

So I am sitting ont he couch last night, watching Grey's Anatomy when I start to smell something weird...not in a Oh Dear Lord, Jason, you stink kind of weird (I know you know what i am talking about here), but in a...What a minute, is something burning kind of weird...So, I get up and go into the kitchen to investigate...I don't see anything on the stove...but the dishwasher is running...and then I realize...the smell is coming from the dishwasher!  All of the lights on the display were flashing as if to alert me that there is an emergency situation, so I open it up and sure enough, there WAS something burning...one of the lids to Hannah's sippy cups had made its way from its home in the top rack, all the way to the bottom (note-not the bottom rack, but the BOTTOM of the dishwasher) under one of the coils...and then proceeded to melt on top of it because the coil was so hot, and then, yep, you guessed it...started to catch on fire...not good...crazy.  The good thing was that I caught it in time, the bad thing was that the house smelled like a giant candle had just been blown out...so I thought it would be a good idea to spray some lysol...so now it smells like a sanitized birthday candle that has been blown out...sheesh-later I will be trying to figure out if the dishwasher can be saved...keep your fingers crossed!

Let's begin with Five Question Friday shall we?

1. Do you and your spouse go to bed at the same time?

Rarely...I work a traditiionalish schedule M-F, so i tend to go to sleep at the same time every night 10ish (Hey, I don't deny I am an old lady...I know I can't hang with the young pups anymore, and I don't even try to-because no matter what time I go to sleep, Hans is still going to wake up between 5 and 7.) whereas Hubs works a different 12 hour shift schedule alternating nights and days with , so we rarely go to sleep at the same time...and we almost NEVER wake up at the same time...

2. A question for the ladies...What kind of facial hair do you like on your man?
Hmmm...tough one.  When I first met Hubs, he had a lot of facial hair, around his mouth and some longer sideburns but not in a "Your stache looks might hauncho kind of way (man that sounds like something straight from the 70's).  Now that Hubs is a police officer, he really can't have the long side burns or the untraditional facical hair, so he has none...but if he doesn't shave every day, he, like a warewolf, gets super hairy...his facial hair grows at the speed of light...crazy...Sometimes I like him with a little stubble, but other than that, he looks weird to me when he tries to go for days without shaving...but when the scruff gets to be too much, I make Hubs rub his face int he crook of his elbow so he can feel how bad it hurts too...STORY TIME!  When I was in college, I knew a girl how jsut started dating this guy...and one night apparently they celebrated Makeout Fest 2000, and she came back and her face (in the mouth region) was red, raw and blistered...she had 3rd degree stubble burn from her new guy's scruff-no lie!  She was miserable for weeks!  I can't even imagine how she explained that to her family...I vowed from that moment on that I would never put myself in a situation inwhich I could receive any degree of stubble burn!

3. What's the worst vacation you've ever taken?
Oye...well...there have been 2...and both of them werejust weekend "getaways" and the drama surrounding them involved the same individual, and sadly, because she is family I know we won't be able to avoid some type of similiar situation from happeneing again...(I am not going to go into much detail because I would not like to relive the drama...but those of you who do know me, you know which "vacations" I am talking about).  I just wish that sometimes some people would think about what they are going to say before they say it...and realize when they are speaking to an adult as opposed to a child....generally, when you tell me one thing, I do not need to be reminded again-I do not need constant reassurance of what is going on...'nuff said...

4. What's the first-ever blog you followed?
The first blog I ever followed was written by Julie Olsen.  I "met" Julie on iVilliage, first in the July 08 expectant mother's group, and then we moved together to the July 2008 Firecrackers group.  Julie's son was born in July-just like Hans, but shortly after he was born, Julie was diagnosed with triple negative Breast Cancer-and was determined not to let that cancer define who she was as a person-her blog kept us all up to date with the status of her treatments and well being in general.  I read all of her ups and downs...kept up with her while she went through her chemo, and had all of her "lady parts" removed (Julie's words, not mine, but I liked them so I use them).  I am happy to say that Operation Kick Cancer's A$$ was a success and Julie is now cancer free and lives her life trying to educate people about cancer and finding a cure...Julie is one of the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure of "knowing."

5. Do you enjoy amusement parks?
Yes, I do enjoy amusement parks-I love roller coasters and so does Hubs.  Hannah seems to be a bit of a daredevil herself, so we can't wait until she is old enough and tall enough to ride all of the fun rides with us.  We are thinking about taking her to Disney World next year.  She loves Mickey and all of the other Disney characters-so I know she is going to have a balst-honestly, I am getting excited thinking about how excited she is going to be!  I love to see that kid smile and hear her laugh!

I know, yet another post without pictures...hopefully I will be able to get some pictures up for you next week...can you hang on for that long?  Thanks!
For the record, This post was drafted like 5 times, but none of my changes could save...which is lame...here's hoping that a full post is going to make its way tot he blog soon...

You should join 5 Question Friday too!

I heart Fall

I am trying to regain some normalcy, so I am going to participate in Meet Me on Monday-I hope you will join in as well!

1. Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?
I prefer smooth...mostly because the crunchy rips my bread, and I don't like to eat a sandwich with holes in it...no other reason than that

2. What is your favorite color Rose?
I love a pink tipped rose-white yellow or orange with pink tips...they make me smile even when I see them in the store.

3. Do you remove your shoes when you walk into your home?
No...we never did growing up either so it didn't transfer into my adult life...but the dogs have ruined the carpet anyway so taking the act of taking off my shoes is not going to help anything

4. What is your favorite season?
I love love love Fall (autumn)!  I love when the leaves change colors, I love the cooler weather, I love the smell of fireplaces burning when I get out of my car in the evening, I love that people seem happier because the holidays are coming up-I love the opportunity to wear a hoodie and a pair of jeans on my porch at night just listening to the outdoor sounds...I love fall...

5. Approximately how many hours a day do you spend blogging?
hours?  not so much.  I am a pretty fast typer, and don't have a lot of time so if I were even going to consider using the word hour(s) is would be in the singular form, not the plural form, so an hour at most...I know, some of you practically passed out when you read that, but you see my blog...you know I am right, and not ashamed to admit it.  I do end up spending more time on the blog when I decide to change the design of it.

MIA...

I know I have been MIA.  I am really sorry for all of you who are trying to follow me...don't give up, I promise I will be back to a more regular schedule soon.  A few posts ago, I mentioned that I felt like I was on a roller coaster- a lot of ups and downs and I said I would go more into it later...well, I guess now is later...soo...I started a new job Last Tuesday.  It was not an easy decision for me to make as I had been with my old job for over 5 years and have developed many great relationships there, but ultimately, it was the best decision for me.  My new company is amazing.  The team is smaller than my old team, but we do different functions here so we don't require as many people, but they are all super nice.  Last week was pretty much full of training-or my brain felt like it was going to explode, but other than that, it was a great first week.
Why did I start on Tuesday and not a Monday?  Good question friends.  Last weekend (also Mother's Day Weekend) was my Grandpa's 75th birthday, so we all headed up to VA to celebrate it with him.  I saw family there that I hadn't seen in over 10 years, so that was nice (and a little weird).  There was a party for him on Friday.  We got on the road at 8.  Hannah did AMAZING!  No throwing up at all during this road trip-that might have been the best part (generally Hans gets sick when we are in the car for more than 3 hours...no lie, and I don't think it has anything to do with being car sick, she just doesn't like to be in her seat for a long time-so she ends up throwing up, and we have to pull over in the nearest parking lot and take her out, strip her down and try to clean her up (the best you can in a parking lot)...and then we have to deal with eh car seat that happens to be covered in puke too... so we spend the remainder of the trip smelling the remnants of Hans' car seat/road trip protest...good times).  Because we were in the car, she really didn't take a nap, and the party wasn't supposed to start until 6:30, so she was going to eat a late(r) dinner.  We were also staying in a hotel that she wasn't familiar with...strange place + no nap+ late(r) dinner = recipe for a Hannah melt down...she ended up falling asleep around 5:30 and when I tried to wake her up, she threw one of the biggest fits I have ever seen her throw in my life...seriously, face down in the bed, legs and arms kicking and swinging everywhere, screaming, tears, red face, sweat, the whole works...so Hubs made the executive decision to take Hans to Burger King to get some nuggets (I swear that kid is going to turn into a chicken nugget one day) and play on the slide...then if she was feeling up to it, they were going to meet us at the party.  Right as we were walking out the car, the sky opened up and the wind started blowing pretty hard, it looked like a tropical storm outside...
I rode with Mom, Dad and Hayley to the party, and half way through it, I got a message from Hubs saying that they were going to go swimming at the hotel instead of trying to get her to the party...probably the best decision for everyone involved...By the time I got home, they were both sleeping peacefully.

We woke up the next morning and headed to Gram and Grampa's house.  Then we went to a petting zoo (which was located at the SPCA-best idea ever!) and we fed goats, lamas, and deer.  They also had bunnies, chickens, a black leopard (!), an eagle and 2 bobcats.  Hannah LOVED it.  The goats were crazy though!  Anytime Hubs would try to get more food, they would try to push his hand out of the way from the food dispenser and put their tongues in it!
When we left the petting zoo, we went to this place called Bluegap Farm.  There were also farm animals here, most of them were behind fences and gates so you couldn't pet them, but Hannah loved it just the same.  She saw turkeys, ducks, peacocks, horses, more goats and lamas, a donkey, cows and pigs.  There was also a park for kids to play on right in the middle of the farm.  Hans was in heaven!  When we left the farm, we went to the Power Museum, and saw old planes and rockets-which were really cool too.  I haven't been there since I was about Hayley's age.  After the planes, we went to Chic-fil-a-chosen by Hannah (obviously), and by that time, it was nap time for us.  Hubs, Hans and I headed back to the hotel and took a nap.  When we woke up it was dinner time and we all headed out to the Surf Rider-a seafood restaurant in Downtown Hampton...I had my first fish tacos there, and they were delicious-I also tried Mom's She Crab soup-AMAZING!  We decided to head back to the hotel after dinner so Hans could go swimming again.  Hans is a water baby for sure (just like me when I was younger) she always wants to be in the water no matter what it is-a bath, a pool, a lake, the beach-it doesn't matter to her.

Sunday was Mother's Day and we all woke up and had brunch with Gram and Grampa before starting the long trek home.  We decided that because it was Mother's Day, we would try to stop through Columbia to see Marty and Judy (Nana and Granda to Hans).  They just bought a new house on the lake and were eager to show us so we had dinner with them at the new house before finishing the last hour and a half trip home.  Again, Hans was a rock star on the trip home (and actually took a nap for a while on the way to Columbia).

We got home pretty late Sunday, and I knew I wouldn't have wanted to start a new job after an entire day in the car, so I asked them if it would be possible to start on a Tuesday-and they were okay with that request...(I know, that was a long story for the answer to the question of why did I start on a Tuesday and not a Monday...but I know deep down you were hoping for a long explanation so you could get caught up with me!)

Monday, Hans had a dentist appointment (each time it gets better...I am hoping that there will be no screaming and crying for her appointment in November...) and she was very excited to get a new toothbrush (green of course) and a balloon (the dental assistant tried to get her to take a purple one, but my Hans only had eyes for the green one...) and then she picked out 2 stickers (both with elephants of course).  After the dentist, Hans and I headed to Monkey Joes- for some fun.  Hubs met up with us after his doctor's appointment.  Hubs took Hans to lunch and I met up with Jane and Cinco (my mini boyfriend-he is such a cutie-you should be jealous that you didn't get the chance to dine with them).  I had errands to run after lunch, and a session with Heather at the gym later that afternoon as well.  After working out, I headed home because we were meeting up with Sherri (Granci to Hans) for dinner for a late Mother's Day celebration.  Busy day off (and technically Monday I was officially unemployed) but it was really nice to be able to spend it with Hans and Hubs just having fun.

So you are pretty caught up...except for this weekend, which, my Uncle Andy & Aunt Jill were in town from Nebraska so we spent some time with them on Friday and Saturday.

I posted this earlier and completely forgot to give a shout out to Megan!  Her birthday was last Monday and we were able to celebrate her birthday this weekend!  Happy Birthday Megan-Hope it was awesome!

I promise to try to get on a more regular schedule with posting for you guys, and I will post some pictures of our adventures later-so that's something to look forward to!

Is There A MTV Reality Show Support Group?

Time is flying...when did it get to be this late in the day?  I am a bit delinquent , but HEY!  At least it is still Monday!

1. What is your favorite kind of muffin?
The Apples & Cinnamon muffin-grilled-from Perkins...OH MY GOSH is that muffin amazing!  (specifically the grilled part because they split it down the middle, toss it on the grill (flat side down) then put butter on it and it is like Muffin Toast...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm).

2. What was the first car you ever owned?
Technically the first car I ever owned was the Lumina.  (Lumi)  My dad sold it to me for a dollar, thus making it mine...the first car I ever bought was my Toyota Corolla...still have it.

3. Which TV Show were you sad to see end?
Um...The Hills, I am not going to lie, I love those girls...if you want to keep up with them you can follow this blog: http://hillsfreak.blogspot.com/  I also loved Newlyweds...you know-Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey?  But clearly, that had to end as well.  Laguna Beach...hmm...I am seeing a pattern here.  I also loved Friends, such a good show!

4. What is your lucky number?
Lucky?  not so sure it is lucky, but I like the number 3...and the number 12...but i wouldn't say they are lucky...but...3/12 is my anniversary so that's lucky :)

5. Pretzels or Potato Chips?
Chips...I do love a pretzel, but there is far more variety when it comes to the world of chips...ahhh...chips...Why was this week so food related?  I am hungry now...
I want to meet you on Monday too!
